Superintendent's Message

Greetings Cardinals,

Can you believe that it is already July?  Summer needs to slow down, but I would be fibbing if I didn't admit that I am super excited to kick off the upcoming school year in August. My excitement comes from missing the kids and knowing what a fantastic staff we have assembled to lead our kids in their learning adventures in the coming year. There is no way to skim over the fact that as the 20-21 school year ended, we saw many of our beloved teachers move on to new professional adventures of their own. We are happy for each of them, and we wish each of them the best. We also thank them for all they did to make our school a better place over their years of service.

Now, we all know that change can be scary, and having new faces in the building may seem weird at first, but I have no doubt that our school is in good hands with the staff that has been assembled for the coming year, and I am excited to welcome them to our school community. On the elementary side of the building, we have Ms. Alyssa Green – Kindergarten, Mrs. Sarah Guyer – Kindergarten (added position for 21-22), Terri Swopes – 6th Grade, Makayla Mullett – Preschool Paraprofessional. On the high school side of the building, we have Mrs. Lisa Perkins – Business (added position for 21-22), Natalie Orta – FACS, Mrs. Jessica McFarland – 7-12 English, Mr. Skylar Sawyer – 7-12 English/Social Studies (added position for 21-22), Mrs. Grace Myers – HS Mathematics, Mrs. Deb Foster – 7-12 Science, Ms. Jailine Delgado – 7-12 Science. Welcome to all of our new Cardinals!!!  Mrs. Erin Roberson, our preschool paraprofessional for the past two years, will begin serving as our new OPPA Kitchen Manager.  Ms. Hannah Perks, serving as a part-time custodian for us, will be transitioning to our full-time evening custodian come August. I am super excited to introduce such an amazing group of individuals to you. I assure you that each of them values educational excellence and building positive relationships with those in our school community.

This past year has brought many changes and improvements that many have not seen due to COVID-19 restrictions. So, we are super excited to welcome you all back to #TheNest for our Back-to-School Extravaganza on Thursday, August 19 (5:30pm-7pm).  The Back-to-School Extravaganza will allow each of you to meet all of our new staff members, bring in your student's classroom supplies, grab a bite to eat, walk through the building, and check all the improvements made.

As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I am here to serve our students and you as members of the Cardinal community.

We look forward to seeing you at #TheNest.
